Ghana’s industry inflation increased 3.5 percentage points to 32.7 percent year on year in July compared with the 29.2 percent recorded in June, the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) said on Wednesday.
The rate indicates that between June and July 2023, prices received by manufacturers for their goods and services increased by 32.7 percent.
With a total weight of 4.3 percent in the Producer Price Index basket, electricity and gas recorded an inflation rate of 69.6 percent, while transportation and storage recorded an inflation rate of 49.2 percent.
Mining, with a weight of 43.7 percent in the basket, also recorded an inflation rate of 38.9 percent in the month of July.
Water supply, sewerage, and waste management ended the month with a rate of 38.5 percent, accommodation and food service activities (35.0 percent), and manufacturing (28 percent).
