Ghana’s economy grew 7.7 percent in February 2026, 3.8 percentage points higher than the 3.9 percent recorded during the same period in 2025, the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) said on Wednesday.
Addressing a press briefing on the monthly growth rate in Accra, the capital of Ghana, Government Statistician Alhassan Iddrisu said the industry sector mainly drove the growth.
“During Feb. 2026, economic activities in the industries sector expanded by 9.6 percent compared to 2.8 percent in Feb. 2025. This is an indication of an expansion in manufacturing, electricity, and mining and quarrying activities, compared to the same period last year,” Iddrisu said.
According to the government statistician, economic activities within the services sector expanded by 7.4 percent in Feb. 2026, compared to 4.4 percent a year before, while the agricultural sector’s economic activities also expanded by 3.8 percent, a 5.6 percentage point decline from 9.4 percent recorded for the same period in 2025.
Meanwhile, the GSS has announced the revision of the monthly inflation rate for January to 6.1 percent, down from the 7.5 percent reported on April 8.
“This revision is mainly due to new data on fisheries, trade, manufacturing, electricity, public administration, education, and health sub-sectors. The services sector saw the largest downward revision, and industry was revised upwards,” said the GSS.
