The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has lauded mobile telecom giants MTN for their regular support for the development of Ghana football.
FA President Kurt Okraku gave this commendation during a farewell dinner organized for the Black Stars ahead of Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON 2024 tournament, which opened n Cote dÍvoire on Saturday January 13.
Okraku added that MTN Ghana had demonstrated consistent commitment to the growth of football in the country.
“We appreciate and acknowledge the immense contribution MTN Ghana has been giving to football in Ghana over the years and we can only urge you to do more to enable us nurture talents whilst unifying the country,” he said.
The FA president and Black Stars skipper André Dede Ayew presented memorabilia including a football and jersey autographed by the Black Stars players to MTN.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who graced the occasion urged the national team to do their best and win the cup for Ghana.
“As headline sponsor, MTN is proud to stand beside the Black Stars on their journey through AFCON 2024. Our commitment to the senior national team is a testament of our belief in their Can-Do spirit and resilience,” said Adwoa Wiafe, Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer of MTN Ghana.
She said MTN would continue to support such national assignments that bring joy, unity, and a sense of pride to the country.
