Ghana prioritises renewable energy solution deployment: energy minister

Ghana’s Energy and Green Transition Minister John Abdulai Jinapor has reiterated the premium placed on the deployment of renewable energy solutions for critical installations by the government.

Even as conventional power serves as a reliable backup to ensure uninterrupted service delivery, Jinapor said during a meeting with a high-powered delegation from the University of Cape Coast led by Vic-Chancellor Denis Worlanyo Aheto the government is focused on ensuring a smooth energy transition.

“As part of our green transition agenda, the government is prioritising the deployment of renewable energy solutions for critical installations, with conventional power serving as a reliable backup to ensure uninterrupted service delivery,” the Minister wrote on Facebook after the meeting.

He added, “Together, we can build a greener and more sustainable future for Ghana’s educational sector; creating an enabling environment for teaching, learning, research, and innovation.”

Prior to this engagement, Jinapor had said in a separate meeting with Damilola Ogunbiyi, CEO of Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Sustainable Energy for All, as well as Co-Chair of UN-Energy that Ghana is advancing the national energy and sustainable development priorities.
