The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) announced late Wednesday it had raked in 1.8 billion U.S dollars in foreign exchange (FX) during the month of September, exceeding the month’s target by 400 million dollars.
Of the total amount generated, the release said , GoldBod had sold 701.3 million dollars to authorized commercial banks against the set target of 700 million dollars to support FX market stability.
“An amount of 1.1 billion dollars was provided to the Bank of Ghana against the set target of 700 million dollars to support reserve accumulation,” the release added.
Going forward, the GoldBod targets to raise at least 1.4 billion dollars in FX for the country during the month of October, in its avowed aim to continue to strengthen the country’s FX market stability under the Ghana Accelerated National Reserve Accumulation Policy.
“This will be done in accordance with the newly developed Spot FX Sales/Intermediation Framework of the GoldBod to strengthen transparency, fairness and regulatory compliance,” the GoldBod added
