Heatwave will hit Botswana after the country experienced abnormally hot weather one week ago.
According to the weather forecast issued Wednesday by the Department of Meteorological Services, the heatwave is expected over most parts of the country from Wednesday to Saturday, with very hot to extremely hot temperatures of 36 degrees to 41 degrees Celsius.
“These high-temperature conditions are caused by a combination of persistent hot northerly wind flow at the Earth’s surface and a high-pressure system at upper levels,” said the meteorological services department in a statement. “Despite the prevailing heatwave conditions, thunderstorms are still expected in some areas of the country.”
The public has been cautioned to take precautionary measures against the adverse weather conditions.
