MTN Ghana’s novel WebGuard offers built-in protection to home broadband customers

MTN Ghana has launched WebGuard, a premium network-level cybersecurity service designed to help Home Broadband customers and their families stay safe online by protecting them from phishing attacks, malware, scam websites and other cyber threats.

The launch reflects MTN Ghana’s commitment to evolving beyond connectivity to deliver innovative digital solutions that enhance customer safety, digital wellbeing and confidence in an increasingly connected world.

Today, internet users face a growing range of online threats, including phishing campaigns, fraudulent links shared through messaging platforms, and malicious websites impersonating trusted institutions such as banks and delivery services. While traditional security solutions often require installation on individual devices, WebGuard provides protection directly at the network level, safeguarding every connected device automatically once the service is activated.

Powered by Whalebone Aura technology, WebGuard is built into MTN Home Broadband connections and requires no downloads, software installation or configuration. Protection works seamlessly in the background, enabling customers to browse the internet more securely without any technical expertise.

Speaking on the launch of WebGuard, Ibrahim Misto, Chief Digital Officer, said the introduction of WebGuard demonstrates MTN Ghana’s commitment to delivering solutions that address the evolving needs of customers in the digital age. He said, “At MTN, we are committed to enabling the benefits of a modern connected life while ensuring our customers can enjoy those experiences safely. WebGuard is a premium layer of protection designed to help keep families safe online by blocking fake links, scam websites and other digital threats”.

“We are delighted to provide complimentary access to our Home Broadband customers during this introductory phase so they can experience its value first-hand. The protection works automatically, giving customers greater peace of mind without requiring any additional setup”, he added.

As part of the initial rollout, MTN Ghana is offering Home Broadband customers complimentary access to WebGuard for a limited introductory period. The initiative is intended to build awareness of the service and give customers the opportunity to experience network-level protection across their home networks before future phases of the rollout are introduced
