A Ghanaian official on Friday said that the government’s flagship programs in the agriculture sector were targeted at achieving food security, export processing, and job creation for the youth.
Harry Bleppony, Deputy Director of Crop Services at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, said during the opening of the two-day AgriTech West Africa 2025 conference and exhibitions that the government seeks partnerships with the private sector and foreign investors to achieve the goals set under the Agriculture for Economic Transformation Agenda under the flagship Feed Ghana Program.
Under these flagship programs, Bleppony said the government would establish the Farmers Service Centers in key agriculture production districts across the country as one-stop shops to provide farmers access to mechanization services, seeds, agrochemicals, and extension services to support crop production.
Moreover, he said the government would also establish agro-production enclaves with large tracts of land developed into commercial hubs, equipped with irrigation systems, roads, warehouses, and processing facilities to attract investments and consolidate production.
“Implementing just these two sub-programs has the potential to attract investments along the value chains of the agriculture sector. This has become an imperative, and I, therefore, entreat all companies in the agriculture space to take advantage of the opportunities to invest in the sector for a win-win outcome,” the official urged.
He pledged the government’s resolve to continue to work closely with the private sector to enhance the investment climate in the country.
