Stop Press! MTN announces security breach on its platforms

Africa’s leading technology company MT N Group on Monday announced security breaches on some of its platforms.

“Early indications suggest that about 5,700 MTN Ghana customers’ data may have been affected,” MTN said, assuring affected customers that it would contact them to resolve the issues.

Despite the breach, the company said  its platforms remain fully operational, while it closely monitors its environment.

“The privacy of information is our top priority, and we remain committed to safeguarding the integrity of our systems and the trust placed in us by our customers and other stakeholders,” MTN emphasized.

The company added, “We understand that this incident may raise concerns, and we are committed to providing you with the updates and guidance required during this time.”

Customers with questions or concerns can reach out to MTN’s support team on the toll-free customer care number 100, added the statement.

“We are working closely with leading cybersecurity experts and are conducting a forensic investigation to assess any impact to our environment in line with our established security protocols,

“The investigation is still ongoing, and we are devoting the requisite resources to resolve this matter,” it said.

The African telecoms giant maintained that, even though they could not ascertain the full impact on the incident, their core systems were still intact and operational.

“The confidentiality, integrity and availability of our systems remain central to how we operate and serve our customers. As a reminder, customers are encouraged to remain vigilant and follow regular security measures,” MTN added.
